Keep Chino Strong....
Chino needs a strong, experienced, independent voice to represent District 2 on the City Council. As a lifelong Chino resident, Chino HS graduate, a former Chino Valley School Board Trustee and Businesswoman, I am especially qualified to be your voice.
Having served 12 years on our school board, I built a record of integrity, independence and effective leadership. I love Chino and the special community we have!
I will “Keep Chino Strong.”
• Strong for Public Safety: As the wife of a retired Peace Officer, I know the importance of supporting our Police and Fire departments and providing them with the resources needed to keep Chino safe.
• Strong for Chino Residents: Support effective programs for our youth, our seniors and city services for our residents.
• Strong for Businesses: Work with local businesses to help them succeed and attract high-quality employers to Chino.
• Strong for Chino’s Heritage: Preserve our community’s special historic character, maintain our family friendly quality of life, protect against high density and support responsible growth.
My husband and I raised our three sons in Chino. I’m vested in our community.
As your Councilwoman I will be Strong and Independent for you.
Vote Chino Strong! Vote Sylvia Orozco! Thank you!
About Me
As a lifelong resident, I attended Chino schools and graduated from Chino High School.
I earned my degree, BA Business Administration, from California State University, Fullerton.
I am married (32 years) to Ruben. We have 3 wonderful sons: Eric (graduated FDIM), Alex (graduated CSU Los Angeles) and Mark (entering his Senior year at CSU Long Beach).
I was first elected to the CVUSD Board of Education in November 2006. I am thankful for the opportunity to have served as CVUSD school board member for 12 years. I am honored to have had the public’s trust to re-elect me to a 3rd term in 2014 -- an achievement that had not been accomplished in over 25 years.
During my 12 years on the board, I was dedicated and remained diligent in my duties. I worked hard to be informed and responsive to the needs of students, parents, and staff. I listened to all concerned, completed my own “homework” and made my decisions based on all the information gathered.
I always told myself that when my last son graduated high school that I would not run for re-election. My "baby" graduated in 2018, so at the end of my third term, I opted not to run for re-election.
My passion for serving the community has not diminished -- as well as many individuals nudging me to run for council.
I have served on several local and State boards, committees, and commissions (please visit my Experience page). It has been a privilege to serve the community as School Board member, as well as serve in my various roles. I look forward to the opportunity to serve as your Councilwoman.
